Lot 4008 PIETRO VENDITTI 2ND MODEL 9MM REPEATING PISTOL

Cal. 9mm. NSN. Pietro Venditti patented this close facsimile of the American Volcanic pistol in Italy in 1872. He made his own rocket ball ammunition for his 1st model but soon updated to 2nd model metallic cartridge pistol. Standard configuration with 5.75" octagonal browned barrel engraved on the top-flat with floral scrolls and "VENDITTI E Ct LANGUSI", integral 10-shot magazine below the barrel, same Volcanic style rotating loading sleeve at muzzle, German silver frame with iron side plates, florally engraved, finger-ring lever forming the trigger guard, checkered burl walnut bag-shaped grips with lanyard ring at butt. CONDITION: good overall, barrel is refinished, re-browned, and re-engraved address and floral scrolls, missing magazine spring. Mechanics functional including 2-pronged extractor, but loading sleeve is frozen, pitted rifled bore. (01-26638/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,500.
